Party Time...1993 style!

Anton's 30th birthday party was a hit. We had a fabulous candy bar, full of our favorite candies from our childhood. We served hot dogs, cheese puffs, Bossio macaroni salad, Grandma Winkler's fruit salad, Lemon Cake and Lunch Lady Peanut Butter Bars. All favorites from our childhood. We also jammed out to some great early '90's music.
Lemon Heads, Fire Balls, Bazooka, Pixie Sticks, War Heads, Whoppers, Cry Babies, Laffy Taffy, and Jolly Ranchers
My favorite part of the night, though, was all of the outfits that all of our guests put together.
Here is the birthday day boy and one of his greatest friends, Daniel.
Anton's rockin' an outfit inspired by FPOBA, a classic!
Daniel's outfit is truly 1993 inspired. A neon shirt with puff paint words "2 Legit II Quit", cut off jean shorts, rolled down socks and some fancy Fila tennis shoes.

Here's a closer look at the rolled down socks.

Geoffrey and Amanda, my brother and SIL, came in a pair of outfits inspired by their childhood. They were wee babes in 1993. Geoffrey is in athletic shorts and a Reptar t-shirt and Amanda has on some fantastic wind pants and a My Little Pony t-shirt.

Cody was a huge Michael Jordan fan and dug out this sweatshirt to commemorate his childhood.

A couple of self taken pictures with my mom and the birthday boy.
Robby and Rebecca visited a thrift shop and scored on some great items. Robby's jeans were a high-light of the evening. Robby was really small as a child and had to wear elastic waisted jeans. Needless to say, we all enjoyed the look.

I found this Kelly Kapowski shirt on clearance and had to get it! I wore it pulled to the side. Also, these no-tie tennis shoes with tall socks. My favorite part, my hair, a true 1993 fashion of the 11 year old Tasha.

Here's the birthday boy donning two of his gifts.
All in all, our evening was a blast.

Anton Is Turning 3-0!

In just one week Anton will have a birthday. Each year is significant, but this year is one that we consider an extra special birthday...the big 3-0! That's right, he will be 30.

Last year, we celebrated Anton's birthday with a Roaring 20's Whodunnit murder mystery party. It was a huge success and something that you can read about here. With the success of that last year, the challenge was on for this year's celebration to be even more great and grand!

Anton nearly cringes at the idea of something more great and grand. His idea of a fun celebration is our family and an easy dinner. He is not a big fan of being the center of attention. He did, however, give me permission to make this birthday a little more of a big deal with him turning 30 and all.

So, I got to work researching and looking for great ideas for a 30 year old themed birthday party. I was pretty excited when I came across the idea to do Born in the 80's. There are so many fun things to do with that theme and the outfits were sure to be entertaining.

Anton is not a fan of surprises, so I decided to share my idea with him. His reaction was less than pleasing. He assured me that he is not to fond to the 80's. So, back to the drawing board I went.
After some frustration, my SIL Amanda decided to brainstorm with me and we came up with a brilliant theme. Though we were born in the 80's, most of our childhood memories are from the early 90's, with Fresh Prince of Bel-Air being an all time favorite childhood memory. All that to say, we are having a Come As You Were...1993! party to commemorate Anton's 30th birthday.

I was 11 and was wearing stirrup pants and a baby doll dress with scrunchy socks. I decided that I probably couldn't find anything like that for our party, so I had to a little bit of research for ideas. I settled on an oversized sweatshirt, leggings, scrunchy socks, and some white simple tennis shoes (most likely Keds). Anton isn't a fan of any of his 10 year old options, so he is opting for an outfit from FPOBA. We are sure to have some great photo ops from our party.

For our menu, stay tuned! We did stock up on some of our favorite candy from the decade (complete with War Heads, Bazooka Gum, and Sixlets.)

Where were you in 1993? Better yet, what were you wearing? What was your favorite candy?
