Thankful for Bedtime

Don't get the wrong idea. It's not that I'm thankful to see her going to bed (though I do enjoy the quiet evening), I am thankful for the routine. Each night when its time for bed, she gives kisses, prays with daddy and then reminds him to read her her Bible. I am thankful that we have a positive ending to the day and we end the day thanking Jesus for all that He's done.

Thankful Day 11 & 12

I'm completely bummed that I missed yesterday, but I'll catch up and do 2 today.
11. We are very thankful for the men and women who have served and are currently serving our country. It is true that we would not have the freedoms that we have without those men and women. We have many family members who have served and are currently serving and today we honor them for their service. A simple "Thank You" doesn't seem to be sufficient when they are the ones sacrificing their lives. Please make sure that you honor those men and women in your life who have served.

12. We are thankful for prayer: the ultimate way to communicate with our heavenly Father. He is always there to listen and desires to have a relationship with each and every one of His children. At any moment in our day, we can turn to God and He is there, ready and willing to be apart of our day.

A Treasure in my Pocket

Today, I am thankful for the little treasures that I find in my pocket throughout the day. Whether it be a toy that was taken away or a gold fish cracker, they are treasures that remind me of my sweet baby girl.
This morning I found such a treasure. I had stuck a little toy in my pocket while cleaning Karrington's room. My intent was to take it and put it away, seeing as it was tiny and not meant for little children. My morning got away from me though and I forgot to take it out of my pocket. Later in the day, I was looking for my phone and reached into my pocket only to find this tiny toy. It brought me a smile and reminded me to be thankful for such treasures.

Thankful for Car Times

Today, I am thankful for car rides to and from school with my little Karrington girl. Karrington and I have some priceless moments in the car. We talk about her day, pray together, we sing songs, and sometimes we even share a Sonic treat.
This week we were driving home and she wanted to listen to Veggie Tales. Instead of popping in the CD for the umpteenth time, I decided to do my own rendition of Bible songs. We started with This Little Light of Mine. She held up her light (finger) and we declared together that we wouldn't hide our light under a bush or let Satan blow it out. We then sang a song about Zachias; he was a wee little man. Karrington wanted to throw in a little Itsy Bitsy Spider and the ABC's. I loved that she jumped right in and suggested her own tunes to sing.
It is so fun to share these moments with my sweet girl. She is precious and I am very thankful for our times that we spend in the car. I know that these moments will be able to grow into more in depth conversations as she gets older. We are creating a solid foundation and for that I am very thankful.

The Texas Sunrise

This picture depicts just a small piece of God's creation. I am thankful for reminders, like this, that appear throughout my day. God has an intricate design and plan for each and every person. I am so thankful that His plans are much bigger and better than the ones that I have in mind.

Thankful for Technology

Two pieces in particular: phones and computers. We moved away from Anton's family a little over two years ago and have been grateful to be to able to communicate via phone, Skype, email, Facebook, this blog...etc. I'm not sure how people kept up with friends and family before all of this technology.

I'm also thankful that these pieces are available to make my life a little more convenient, especially the phone with the little white cord.

Thankful for Employment

6. We are thankful for employment. After going through a season of unemployment, this topic is much nearer to our hearts. Though that season was tough, we learned that God is our ultimate provider. We are thankful for God's continued provision and faithfulness. He has blessed us both with great jobs where we can use our talents. It is amazing to see His hand in every aspect of our lives.

Thankful Day 5: Heritage of Strong Marriages

5. I am thankful for the heritage of marriage that has been set before us. Both my and Anton's parents have been married for over 30 years. Both marriages serve as great testimonies of God's grace and mercy. We are both extremely thankful for the standard that has been set and the legacy that we are able to pass down to our children. It is hard work and takes much dedication. Anton and I are only 5 years into ours and know that it takes a lot of work and commitment to keep a marriage strong.
Thank you RLMJ for your dedication and hard work to keep your marriages strong. You're a blessing to our family.

The Month of Thanksgiving

November has me thinking about all of the things in life that I am so very thankful for. It seems only natural since November is the month when we get to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. How wonderful it is to live in a country where we have the freedom to be openly thankful about the blessings that God has given us. I am a few days late on writing for everday day in November, but better late than never...right? I'll start with 4 things today and continue from there.
  1. I am most of all thankful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus. He paid the greatest price of all when he sacrificed his own life, so that we might spend eternity with Him.
  2. I am thankful for my wonderful husband, Anton. God knew that someone very special would have to put up with all of my 'high-maintenance' ways.
  3. I am thankful for my sweet and precious Karrington girl. I can't imagine life without her. She is a gift from God and I am so blessed that He has given me the opportunity to be her mom.
  4. I am very thankful for my family. All of them are a blessing and even though we are all a little quirky, we are tight knit. We have a special connection and you can see God's hand working in all of our lives.
